RENTERS RELIEF
Last year, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City opened up Emergency Renters Relief funding. This program distributed $108 million, becoming the largest COVID-19-related renters assistance program of any city in the nation. In March 2021, the City reopened a second round of the program, allocating $259 million to Angelenos in need. This funding came from State and Federal funds.
In September 2021, the rental assistance portal opened a third time through a new partnership between the City of Los Angeles and the State of California’s HousingIsKey program. Under the partnership, the State handles applications and allocations within their already streamlined process.
